We believe that respect, recognition and development are vital to maintaining a motivated workforce who are proud to be part of NPS. Below are just some of our commitments to you.
Diversity and Equal Opportunities
At NPS we naturally want to employ the best talent, effectively using and developing the unique skills and experiences our workforce brings to us. We recognise the value of attracting staff from all sections of the community regardless of sex, trans-gender status, marital status, civil partnership status, race, ethnic origin, colour, nationality, national origins, disability, sexual orientation, age or perceived age, religion or belief.
All employees and prospective employees, whether part time, full time, temporary or contract workers, will be treated fairly and with respect. Selection for employment, promotion, training or any other benefit is on the basis of aptitude and ability.
We are proud to be part of the Department for Work and Pensions “Positive about Disabled People” initiative. The symbol guarantees an interview for all suitably qualified disabled applicants. NPS opposes all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination, which will not be tolerated.
Employer of Choice
At NPS it is important to us that all our staff are highly motivated and proud to be part of our business. In 2009 the NPS Group has received 'one to watch' status in the prestigious Best Companies Accreditation. Our success was based upon an independent evaluation of the following areas: Leadership, Well Being, My Manager, My Team, My Company, Personal Growth, Giving Something Back and Fair Deal. Jonathan Austin - Founder and CEO of Best Companies said, "I would like to congratulate the NPS Group on their achievement. Our role at Best Companies is to set a rigorous benchmark so that organisations can become even better employers”. At NPS we are wholly committed to continuing on this journey.
Learning and Development
Our continued success requires staff to continually develop. We provide excellent support to all our employees to help with their learning and development. NPS is committed to ensuring that all staff receive regular feedback and encouragement. One-to-one meetings and annual appraisals are important mechanisms by which we recognise performance and identify how we can support you in your development.
Barbara Cutts, Group Learning & Development Manager, is responsible for the identification and provision of development opportunities group wide. Barbara says:
“I am passionate about learning and development, and the benefits it brings to both individuals and the wider organisation. I work with staff and managers around the group to support the development of all staff. What is unique about NPS is that each office has at least one Learning Champion, who arranges regular continuous professional development (CPD) sessions for professional staff.
There are a variety of courses available, ranging from general skills such as customer care, project management or IT skills, to specific technical courses relevant to your specialised discipline. I also run a management development programme to support staff in the move into their first management role and beyond.
We know that development comes in many ways, and training courses are only part of the solution. NPS equally encourages workplace learning opportunities and encourages the use of secondments and job shadowing where appropriate. Staff are always encouraged to pursue their professional development and to keep up to date with developments in their particular area of expertise. Membership of relevant professional bodies is encouraged and supported.”
Work-Life Balance
We recognise the importance for all members of staff to enjoy a healthy work-life balance. To help staff achieve this, NPS operates a flexi-time scheme to help staff manage their working time. Our flexible working arrangements enable staff to find a working pattern that works for them. This is an addition to our robust family friendly policies, which ensure staff have a way to take the time they need to focus on their family when unexpected events arise.
