Reward and recognition

At NPS we believe it important to recognise an individual’s unique talents. Please click the headings below to find out how we reward and recognise our people.

competitive reward package

Your salary upon starting with NPS will reflect your skills and experiences. All staff benefit from an annual review of salaries.

hours of work

Our standard working hours are 37 hours a week within a flexi-time scheme which helps you take control of your working arrangements.

sharing our success

NPS recognises that our success is dependent upon our staff and it is important to us that our staff share in our success. Every year, when our profits are known a decision is taken about the percentage of our profits which will be placed into a pot and shared equally amongst staff.

holidays

Annual leave entitlement varies according to grade and continuous service with a minimum of 23 days up to a maximum of 30 days plus public holidays. In addition, because we know how hard our staff work, our staff also benefit from a days concessionary holiday at Christmas.

supporting professional development

Staff are actively encouraged to pursue their professional development through membership of the appropriate professional body. NPS will reimburse staff for a professional membership fee relevant to their role.

wellbeing at work

At NPS we encourage innovative thinking in all aspects of our work, and the workplace. As a direct result of the Ideas and Development team considering how we could enhance wellbeing at work, NPS are proud to provide complimentary fresh fruit to staff on a daily basis. We also participate in the ‘Cycle to Work’ scheme, whereby you can purchase a bike through a salary sacrifice arrangement. Whereas we all hope to be well at work, we recognise that there may be times when you need a little extra support. At NPS we provide staff with access to an Occupational Health Service in addition to a confidential employee counselling service provided by BUPA.

family friendly working

We recognise the importance for all members of staff to enjoy a healthy work life balance. To help staff achieve this NPS operates a flexi-time Scheme to give staff greater flexibility to manage their own working time. We have flexible working arrangements to help staff find a working pattern that works for them. This is an addition to our robust family friendly policies which ensure staff have a way to take the time they need to focus on their family when the unexpected arises. For parents or guardians, we also participate in the Busy Bee Childcare Voucher Scheme, which provides a more flexible way to meet the costs of your childcare through a Salary Sacrifice Scheme.

the NPS spirit

As a national organisation, it is important to NPS that we ensure our staff feel like they are all part of one NPS team. As such, we engage in national initiatives to encourage the development of our team spirit. For example, in 2009, we are holding a chilli growing competition. If you wonder about the number of plants on show when you walk past an NPS window… now you know why!
