Our Exeter office wins international Green Apple Award

Our Exeter office has won an International Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice and Sustainable Development for their design of Bideford Community College.  The team will be awarded either a bronze, silver or gold award at the prestigious award ceremony at the Tower of London in June this year.

The Green Organisation, founded in 1994, is an independent, non-political, non-activist, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.

The new £45m Bideford College, for 1800 students aged 11 to 18 has been constructed by Morgan Ashurst and will be ready for occupation this summer.  The College has been delivered under the government’s Building Schools for the Future (BSF) One School Pathfinder scheme.

NPS Group provided full design and project management services for this scheme, which will include facilities for community use, including a range of after school activities, parenting support and wider community access to ICT, sports, arts facilities and adult learning.

The College has already won a Partnership for Schools’ Building Schools for the Future award in the “Most Sustainable School Design” category. It recognises the commitment of the whole team (students, staff, designers, Devon County Council and community) to deliver a truly sustainable facility which looks to address all the issues around; energy use, building extended use, transport, education via building systems and many other issues.
